>Today, my aunt and uncle took us up to view some great waterfalls near Mt. St. Helens — near the Ape Caves along the Lewis River. Take a look at these:

My aunt and uncle live on the property originally purchased by my great grandparents in Meadow Glade, Washington. This 2 acre plot is where my Dad lived from about the age of 7 until he left home, and it is where my grandparents lived until their deaths in their late 80s. It is the place of many memories. But it has changed a lot, but remained the same nonetheless.

The old house is gone — it was burned down by the fire department several years ago. I got to see the photos this week. Only the garage my grandfather built, the grape vine, and several apple trees remain. The area and the city of Battle Ground continue to grow. There are new houses going up everyday and Battle Ground is a thriving bedroom community. The traffic in front of the property is heavy — it is really amazing.

I’m glad we came by to see all of this before it really changes!

What's this?
